SIRE: Don Olymbrio
Danish Warmblood Elite Stallion at the early age of nine, Don Olymbrio continues on his rapid development in sport. In 2016, Daniel Bachmann Andersen took over the reins from Allan Grøn and they quickly turned out to be a very suitable match and made their international Grand Prix debut in 2017, and despite the stallion's young age they won several major international competitions in 2018. 2019 saw them progressing by leaps and bounds, with an impressive 11th place on FEI's world ranking in dressage by the end of the competitionyear. In 2019 the pair scored over 80% in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the World Cup competition in Amsterdam and over 82% in the Grand Prix Freestyle in Herning, followed by their success at the World Cup in Hertogenbosch where they achieved over 84%. They also took more than 80% in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the five-star CHIO Aachen, and secured double victory at the World Cup in Herning in October 2019.
"He is always very charming and sometimes a bit cheeky, but he comes through when it really matters", says Daniel. "He is quite spirited but he is an incredibly sweet horse and in the daily training I tend to forget that he is actually a breeding stallion. He brings a natural smoothness and gentleness to the training". Blue Hors rider Agnete Kirk Thinggaard took on Don Olymbrio in late 2019, and she has high expectations for their collaboration. "I am very grateful to be able to ride Don Olymbrio and I feel that we fit well", says Agnete. "He is quite sweet and affectionate, and we work well together so I will pursue my Olympic dreams with him."
Don Olymbrio delivered a stunning CDI3* Grand Prix performance at the 2019 World Cup in Herning with rider Daniel Bachmann Anderson. The duo won the two competitions with 78% and 79.7%. In Wellington of the same year, the duo placed 4th inthe CDI3* GP with 71.783.
Don Olymbrio became an international Grand Prix Freestyle winner in 2018 with over 80%, as well as, produced the Danish Warmblood Filly of the Year who later sold for 80,000 EUR. In 2018, he successfully participated in several major international events under Daniel Bachmann-Andersen with good rankings and several victories. At the 2018 CDI competition in Herning, he started the year well scoring two seconds. He continued this on with top placings in Hagen and Cappeln prior to a second placing in the Grand Prix World Cup competition, followed by a victory in the Grand Prix Special. He also had a double victory at the Blue Hors Dressage Festival when he achieved 80% in the freestyle.
During the show season, Blue Hors Don Olymbrio competes in national shows and has attained achieved multiple victories and placings in Prix St. Georges since age seven. Both his sire Jazz, and grandsire, Ferro, have competed at the highest level-- representing the Netherlands at the World Championships in dressage. Jazz has placed high on the WBFSH dressage stallion rankings for several years-- placing 3rd in 2015. Jazz is probably the most influential Dutch breeding stallion of the past 25 - 30 years and has sired a large number of licensed sons and elite mares. The number of his offspring that have become high level competition sport horses is second to none which makes him particularly valuable to breeders. His grandsire Ferro secured the 8th place on the WBFSH rankings for 2015.
Don Olymbrio's first crop drew much attention at home and abroad as each of his three sons became licensed stallions and were proclaimed as premium stallions. At the Süddeutsche Hengsttage in Munich in 2015, L'Olymp Landlyst (Der Däne), was proclaimed premium stallion and sold at auction to Hof Kasselmann in Germany. At the Danish Warmblood stallion licensing in Herning, both UNO Don Olympic and Blue Hors Dreamline were licensed and both were proclaimed premium stallions.
Don Olymbrio was crowned Elite Stallion by the Danish Warmblood Society in autumn 2016 at the age of 9. He has sired 10 licensed stallions, including Olympus from the Celle State Stud in Germany. He is also the sire of many medal-winning mares. For the past eight years he has sired foals that perform extremely well at foal shows and auctions. Don Olymbrio's daughter Remember Me was named Filly of the Year at the Danish Warmblood Elite Show in 2018, and was sold at the Elite Foal Auction to an international Grand Prix rider for 80,000 euros. Many of his offspring have stood out at young horse championships, and several older offspring are making a name for themselves in sport. UNO Don Olympic represented Denmark at the World Championship in Ermelo and has demonstrated talent for international competition with his rider Anna Zibrandtsen. And daughter Silhuet competes internationally under Cecilie Hedegaard of Denmark.
Dam sire Ferro and his rider Coby van Baalen won silver at the Olympic Games in 2000 and Ferro has founded his own stallion line in the Netherlands, which has given the stallions Rousseau, Metall, Rhodium and Special D. Ferro, like Jazz, has produced many successful dressage horses and his offspring are characterized by a convincing ability to collect.
Don Olymbrio originates from one of the most successful Dutch dam lines, family 145. He is suited for tall, large-framed mares. This is where is does his very best and passes on athleticism, expression and dynamics in movement to his offspring. In terms of bloodlines he matches a wide range of mare out of classic german dressage lines. "His offspring are top-quality, durable horses. Like him, they are cooperative and want to achieve something", says Martin Klavsen.
DAM: Don Shuffro
Don Schufro has had an an indescribable importance to this place; not only by virtue of his achievements in both sport and breeding, but most of all with his great personality and presence. We have done everything to give him a great retirement but old age caught up with him, Martin Klavsen says with sadness in his voice.
Olympic medal winner
Don Schufro by Donnerhall / Pik Bube I / Unkenruf was bred by Martin Meier, Germany. He is recognized in most European breeding associations and started his breeding career with Paul Schockemöhle, where he covered one season as a 3-year-old before being acquired by Blue Hors. He has been an internationally sought-after breeding stallion throughout his career and has had a very positive influence in breeding in Denmark, Germany and Sweden, where he has the status of elite stallion and ranks very high with dressage indexes.
In sport, Don Schufro has met all expectations. He has won World Cup qualification and has over 30 victories and many placings in Grand Prix at some of the largest shows such as Aachen, Bremen, Wiesbaden, Lingen, Neumünster and Nörthen Hardenberg. The highlight came in 2008, when he became Danish dressage champion with Andreas Helgstrand and played a crucial role for the Danish Olympic team in Hong Kong winning team bronze. Individually, he became No. 11.
Unique performance pedigree
Don Schufro is the direct son of the stallion of the century, the oldenburger sire Donnerhall, who is regarded as the stallion that has had the greatest influence in modern dressage horse breeding. Donnerhall, who was successful in international dressage with Karin Rehbein, has for a number of years topped WBFSH's ranking as the world's most successful sire in dressage horse breeding. He is the father of a record number of licensed stallions and stands through his many excellent daughters as the damsire of a number of successful dressage horses. Among his most influential sons are De Niro and Don Schufro, who are both born in1993.
Don Schufro's dam sire is the Hanoverian stallion Pik Bube I, who was successful with Herbert Rehbein in the saddle. Pik Bube I has had a great breeding career as a producer of powerful riding horses and became the father of many licensed stallions and highly graded mares that proved to be an excellent match for Donnerhall, and thus he also achieved enormous success as a dam sire.
Don Schufro's dam line, the Holstein mare family Der Finländerin, is a story on its own. His dam and grand dam were very fertile mares who have passed on their own high quality to their many equally successful daughters. His dam’s sister, Fantasia, is the dam of elite stallion Don Primero by Donnerhall. Don Schufro's dam Fiesta is herself the dam of a number of successful offspring by Donnerhall, which in addition to Don Schufro counts the 2003 Oldenburg Mare of the Year, Fabina, as well as other important breeders such as Fantastica, Donna Primera, Ferna, Farina, Filia and Fiesta's Girl, are stallion mothers and stand behind licensed sons such as Sunny-Boy, Classico, Don Rubin, Sidney, Vito Corleone S, Moosbachhof's Peron, Tailormade Red Rebel, Blue Hors Veneziano, Blue Hors Zatchmo, Rudisha and Blue Hors Zirrus.
Outstanding daughters in breeding and sport
Don Schufro has, if anyone, put his imprint on the world map of horse breeding. He has been ranked number 1 in dressage index in Germany 10 times. On WBFSH's ranking of dressage sires with offspring in international Grand Prix, he has been in the top 10 for almost as long. In 2019 he is ranked 10th.
He is the sire of 30 licened sons, including the elite stallions Diamond Hit and Blue Hors Don Romantic, as well as the more of the year in Oldenburg twice and the mare of the year in the Danish Warmblood three times. A total of over 20 DWB medal mares, including four with gold.
It is Don Schufro's daughters, in particular, that have made their mark in great style, and it is also to a large extent the daughters that have represented Don Schufro as the sire at the FEI/WBFSH world championships and other major championships such as the European Championship, the World Cup and the Olympics. This includes FEI/WBFSH world champion UNO Donna Unique and finalist Rebelle, who both competed in international small tour, Donna Asana, who competed in international Grand Prix, as did Dorina, who went to the Olympics and several daughters in international Grand Prix.
This counts not least for Weihegold, who has topped the world ranking for several years. Weihegold's top results include team gold and individual silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, triple gold at the 2017 European Championships in Gothenburg, victory in the World Cup final in Omaha 2017, Paris 2018 and Gothenburg in 2019. Weihegold is among the few horses in the world, which has scored over 90% in Grand Prix Kür several times.
Don Schufro plays a similarly large role as the dam sire and great dam sire of top horses. Thus, he is the dam sire of top horses such as Deja, Rafael's Forest and Sezuan and great dam sire of Glock's Zonik and For Romance I and II etc.
